The Great Limerick Run and the UL Sport Kids Run for Fun are seventy days away. Last year over forty of our pupils took part in the UL Sport Kids Run for Fun. This was a great success for the school in a year where we were renewing our Active School Flag status. The children who took part received a special race t-shirt and a finishers medal. There was also a good number of parents, family members and staff who took part in the Great Limerick Run.
In 2017 we hope to build on last year’s success as we encourage pupils and the school community to get active and take part in an event over the May Bank holiday weekend. For every pupil who signs up for the UL Sport Kids run, the school receives €5. In 2016, this generated over €200 for the school which was used to help purchase a new set of jerseys for the school’s teams. Any monies received from participation in the 2017 event will be used to support sport and physical education in the school.
To help prepare pupils for the event, the school is going to receive 6 weeks of support from Limerick Sports Partnership. They will provide coaching once a week beginning on February 27th. This will help any person who wishes to part to gain fitness and confidence ahead of the fun event.
Here is some important information on the UL Sport Kids Run:
