Bhain na páistí fíor-thaitneamh as an nuacht a léamh.
Bhí siad ag cleachtadh i rith na seachtaine agus d’úsáid siad “green screen” chun a físéan a chruthú. Is maith linn an Ghaeilge agus an teicneolaíocht!

Third & Fourth class had great fun in science this week as they were tasked with designing and making parachutes.
Ms. Griffin assigned the task of designing a parachute which could ensure a soft landing for a small object. The pupils set about designing the parachutes in small groups and then had to make them using a limited amount of materials provided. They produced some excellent results as you can see in these photos!
We have read ‘The Twits’ and are currently reading ‘The Witches’. For Road Dahl day we decided to come up with a book of our own pranks that the Twits pulled on each other!
As his book ‘Matilda’ is 30 years old this year, the class also took part in the Matilda challenge where some mysterious things started happening in the classroom…..have a look for yourself!
Wins over Knockainey NS and Ballylanders NS saw them qualify for the 11-a-side final where they will face off again with Ballylanders NS. Their final group game against Athlacca NS ended in a draw.
The pupils in Junior & Senior Infants today received their High Viz jackets as part of Irish Road Safety week. Pupils in third and fourth received Road Safety goodies like pencils, rulers and colouring books while members of second class got some practice using the Safe Cross Code outside the school.
One pupil from each classroom was selected by their class teacher and the award winners were presented with certificates at today’s assembly. They were also given a night off homework for their efforts!
The team played 3 games this morning in Martinstown. Two hard earned wins from games against Knockainey NS and Athlacca NS were enough to secure a place in the Roinn B decider in a fortnight’s time. They will face Ballylanders NS who had the upper hand in our game today.
Third & Fourth class pupils enjoyed learning about Horse Chestnut Trees during science today and had an opportunity to try a game of conkers.
The conkers were kindly donated by a pupil in third class.
Well done to our girls team which captured the South INTO Mini Sevens title today in Martinstown. Victories over Knockainey NS & Knocklong NS secured Herbertstown a place in the final against holders Kilbehenny NS.
In a closely fought final, Herbertstown emerged victorious on a scoreline of 2.04 to 2.00. This is the second time the school has won this title, the other occasion being in 2016. Our girls will go forward to represent the South in the County competition sometime in the spring.
Training for both teams continues on Monday next with the boys 11 a side blitz taking place next Tuesday. The girls will be in action again during the following week in their 11 a side competition.
Excitement is building in Herbertstown NS ahead of the visit of the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
Pupils have been busy preparing artwork and practising music in anticipation of what will be the first visit of the famous cup to the school.
