Pádraig Pearse Cup 2021
Dublin claim the 2021 Padraig Pearse Cup.
On Wednesday a football match between two teams from within the sixth class bubble took place.
The teams, Dublin (coached by Mr Franklin) and Galway (coached by Mr Fitzgerald), had been picked some weeks previous and had been training during lunch time ahead of the game.
The onlooking support from the other classes in the school were treated to a lively encounter, full of skill and enthusiasm. Dublin built on a half time lead to stretch ahead by 8 points in the second half. However, some quickfire goals from Galway brought the deficit back to one point with around a minute to go. Dublin held their nerve and landed a late point to secure a two point win.
Afterwards, Mrs Heelan presented the Pádraig Pearse Cup to the Dublin captain.
Science Week – 6th Class

They created some excellent bridges!
Science Week – 1st/2nd
1st & 2nd class created cornflour slime during Science Week and had great fun investigating how it can change from liquid to briefly solid when moved quickly.
Green Schools Action Day
We marked Green Schools Action Day in a number of ways including:
wearing green, walking/cycling to school, planting pollinator bulbs in the pitch, litter picking, going for a whole school walk, doing climate/biodiversity themed lessons and making pledges to do better for the planet.
There was also a cherry tree planting ceremony to mark the occasion in a lasting way.
Great Costumes & Fun before Halloween

Pumpkin
Last spring, the 1st & 2nd class planted pumpkins in each of the 5 classroom raised beds in the school garden. Only one plant grew a large pumpkin and it just happened to be our own classroom’s. We used it to make a Jack O’Lantern for our window.
Sunflower
1st & 2nd class also gathered sunflower seeds from the school’s sunflowers and have stored them for planting next spring.
