A sincere thanks to everyone who helped us with collecting ALDI Play Rugby stickers over the past few months. The competition ends this weekend and we have now filled the last poster we have here in the school. In all, we collected enough stickers to fill an amazing 8 posters. Each poster will give the school an extra entry into the draw for €50,000 and we will at the very least have secured new PE equipment for the school.
Herbertstown picked up a win in the first game against Crecora NS. Two defeats followed to strong opposition in Ballybrown NS and Killoughteen NS. The West champions Killoughteen were overall winners on the day.
A great experience for the girls and another memorable outing for them.
The next items on the Cumann na mBunscol calendar for the school teams will be the Roinn A hurling and football blitzes in May.
This visit was secured through the Heritage in Schools programme.
Massive congratulations to the Herbertstown quartet who helped South Limerick to win the Neville Cup in Rathkeale yesterday. The South defeated the East in the semi-final and then overcame the challenge of Limerick City in the final.
In an added piece of history for our school, the South’s captain was a Herbertstown NS pupil. Eithne Neville was present in Rathkeale to present the cup named in her honour to Lucy.
Well done girls on a fantastic achievement.
The last week before the Easter holidays is going to be dedicated to promoting wellbeing. There are lots of nice activities planned for the week. Keep an eye on the school website & calendar for more information in the coming weeks
Girl Guides Day is celebrated around the world on February 22nd each year and in Herbertstown our two representatives wore their uniforms to school to mark the occasion.
The girls visited some of the other classrooms to talk about the Girl Guides and how they had earned their badges. Well done girls.
