INTO Mini Sevens

Well done to our boys and girls teams who have qualified for the South finals in the INTO Mini 7s hurling and camogie competitions.

Both teams had wins over Hospital NS and Knocklong NS in their groups.

Third Class Trip to Hospital Handball Club

Mrs Murphy’s class made the short trip to Hospital on Monday where they were given an introduction to Handball by Johnny Penny of Limerick Handball.

The boys and girls got great exercise and were able to practise some of the skills associated with the game.

Many thanks to Johnny who facilitated the school’s visit.

Hospital Handball Club have training for juvenile players on Sundays from 2:30-4:30pm and are always happy to welcome new players if anyone is interested in trying the sport out.

Olympic Handball – Herbertstown NS Girls Qualify for National Finals

We had boys and girls teams representing the school at the Olympic Handball Limerick Finals in Croom on Wednesday. Well done to our boys who played in some terrific games and finished in third place.

Our girls were crowned county champions after winning all their games and they will now go forward to represent Limerick at the National Olympic Handball Finals in either April or May.

Walk on…Thursday

Bad weather had hampered a few attempts to complete WOW walks in December and earlier in January so we took the opportunity on Thursday to make the most of the lovely day.

It is always a nice experience for the boys and girls and a great way to support our efforts to renew our Active School Flag status.

Primary Schools Handball 2022

Sixth pupils from Herbertstown NS competed today in the South Limerick Primary Schools Handball blitz in Hospital.

Each of the sixth players did very well in what was their first game of handball outside of PE lessons in school. Three of the players were medal winners as the school collected a silver medal in the Roinn B girls division and bronze and silver medals in the Roinn B boys division.

All sixth were excellent representatives for the school at the event.

Dare to Believe

Congratulations to Sixth Class who have completed the Dare to Believe Olympics Schools programme.

Following the very successful visit of Limerick Olympian Sarah Lavin to the school, sixth class had to complete their Dare to Believe log books. Once this was completed, their hard work led them to being awarded a Olympic Ireland Dare to Believe Flag. We look forward to raising this flag in 2023. The class also received commemorative Irish Olympic pins as a memento of their work in the programme.

Well done to all the class.
